When the South African learners first pulled up at the front of school in the minibus, I was buzzing with anticipation at the prospect of hosting a leaner for two weeks and shaking with nerves at the unknown. Would they like me? Would it be to much of a culture shock? How would I manage to entertain them for the two weeks? Moments later I find myself hugging these complete strangers, shaking hands and exchanging names. They all seemed so happy already – why had i ever been worrying?
